Energy trading manager

The Energy Trading Manager is responsible for overseeing the energy trading activities of the company. You will develop and implement trading strategies to optimize energy procurement, manage risk, and maximize profitability. This role requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The Energy Trading Manager collaborates closely with various internal and external stakeholders, including traders, analysts, risk managers, and energy suppliers.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement energy trading strategies: Formulate and execute short-term and long-term trading strategies based on market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and risk management considerations.

  • Market analysis and forecasting: Conduct thorough analysis of energy markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, price trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors, to identify trading opportunities and risks. Use quantitative models and tools to forecast market trends and prices.

  • Risk management: Identify and assess risks associated with energy trading, including price volatility, counterparty risk, and regulatory changes. Develop risk management strategies, such as hedging, to mitigate risks and protect the organization's financial position.

  • Trade execution and optimization: Execute trades in accordance with trading strategies and market conditions. Monitor trading positions, liquidity, and market developments to optimize trading activities and maximize profitability. Utilize trading platforms and systems to manage trades efficiently.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with traders, analysts, risk managers, and energy suppliers to gather market intelligence, share insights, and develop trading strategies. Build and maintain relationships with counterparties and market participants to facilitate trading activities.

  • Compliance and regulatory adherence: Stay updated on energy market regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting obligations. Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulatory frameworks and internal policies.

  • Performance monitoring and reporting: Track and analyze trading performance, including profit and loss (P&L), trade volumes, and risk metrics. Generate regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key trading activities, performance metrics, and recommendations for improvement.

  • Continuous learning and professional development: Stay abreast of industry trends, new trading technologies, and market developments. Attend conferences, workshops, and training programs to enhance trading skills and knowledge.

  • The position includes flights abroad.

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience in energy trading, preferably in a managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of energy markets, trading strategies, PPA and risk management techniques.

  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis and modeling, using tools such as Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar software.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in energy markets.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to fly abroad.
